A planetary hour is one twelfth of daylight (sunrise to sunset) or one twelfth of the night (sunset to the next sunrise). Each hour is associated with a planet from the seven classical planets in the Chaldean order.

How are planetary hours calculated?

Daylight is divided into 12 equal hours from sunrise to sunset, and night into 12 equal hours from sunset to the next sunrise. The ruler of each hour follows the Chaldean order: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon. The first daylight hour is ruled by the planet of the weekday.
