What is this for?

The lunar calendar helps you choose favorable days for gardening (planting, watering, harvesting), self-care (haircuts, skincare), fishing, planning surgeries and medical procedures, starting new projects, and spiritual practices or meditation. By checking the Moon phase and its zodiac position, you can align your daily activities with natural rhythms.

Calculation Method

How we count lunar days

In our calendar, lunar days begin with Moonrise in your city. This applies to all days except the first one.

The first lunar day of each month starts at the New Moon — when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. This moment is the same for the entire planet, no matter where you are.

But Moonrise time varies from city to city. It changes with latitude and longitude. That's why the length of the first lunar day can differ greatly between locations.

Important: you cannot calculate the difference in lunar day start times between cities using their time zones. Here's why: the first lunar day starts at the New Moon — a single global moment. All other lunar days start at Moonrise, which depends on local coordinates. As a result, the offset between two cities' lunar schedules is uneven — it does not equal the difference in their time zones. For example, if in London day 2 starts at 23:02 and in New York day 2 starts at 16:10, the difference of 6 hours 52 minutes does not match the time zone difference (UTC+1 vs UTC-5 = 6 hours). This irregularity happens because the first lunar day breaks the pattern.
